Dear Surf Club Members,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe as we approach Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am thrilled to be able to tell you that the Surf Club will open this weekend, albeit with certain restrictions in order to comply with NYS Executive order 202.6 as amended.

Starting this Saturday, May 23rd:

The kitchen will be open and offering on a to-go basis.  There can be no eating on the deck, but food can be brought down to the beach or taken home.

Umbrellas will be set up 15 feet apart.

Lockers will be open during Club hours 10AM-6PM, and monitored.

No guests allowed at this time.

We will have lifeguards on the beach.

The Club will be open on weekends only.

Members who choose to come to the Club will be required to:

Check in at the front desk upon arrival; a more detailed list of Club guidelines will be provided.

Not congregate on any part of the deck whatsoever.

Maintain at least a 6-foot distance from other people.  (Other than immediate family members with whom you are living.)

Maintain the same minimum 6-foot distance from other people when in the ocean.

Wear a cloth face covering at all times except when in the ocean.

Be 16 years or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Given the circumstances, we feel fortunate to be able to offer this.  It is, of course, imperative that we be respectful of one another and our community and do all that we can to ensure a safe environment as the NYS mandated restrictions are intended to help us do.  Please keep in mind that if the Club membership appears to be disregarding the NYS mandated rules, we could lose the ability to be open in any capacity.   In light of all of this, there will be sanctions against any members who fail to abide by the rules set out above.

We cannot guarantee a Covid-19-free environment.  Members enter the Club at their own risk.  At any time, and without notice, we may need to amend or modify these rules.

If anyone has concerns or questions on the above, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

While it will certainly be challenging, we are hopeful that with everyone’s cooperation we will all be able to enjoy the beach this summer.

Be well and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Tanya Glen
